Zhibing Wang
Trained as an undergraduate student in history and with a keen interest in anthropology, I focus on disability studies in contemporary China. My research explores the shame and stigma experienced by caregivers of autistic children and the roles institutions and media play in shaping these experiences. Inspired by anthropological studies in mental health (Bethel for example), I am also interested in topics of madness and public health in general. Currently, I am experimenting with new methods and theories to fulfill and represent my work (multisensory methodology, films, art, etc.). I enjoy oil painting and films in my spare time, and also have a passion for exploring museums with intriguing exhibitions, the Museum of Innocence is a fascinating example.
